Sustainability in our School

Your Community

Our school is built on strong values that guide everything we do: Progress, Vision, Integrity, and Love. With the community that we have built, sustainability comes naturally.

Kristin is a great place for sustainability. We have built a supportive web of student leadership programs, with service at the heart of everything.

Each year students and staff dedicate thousands of hours to service initiatives, and many of these are focussed on sustainability.

Environmental groups do amazing things at Kristin. Some groups help plant trees at our local stream, some run beach clean-ups, and some even collect data about the waste that our school generates.

We also have groups that are focussed on social sustainability, such as our own Red Cross  and Amnesty groups. They help educate the community about global issues, and fundraise for impacted people around the world.

Our secret to sustainability success is the supportive and open community that we have built. Welcome!

We are an EnviroSchool

We are a Silver EnviroSchool, which reflects what we have achieved in our journey to achieve our sustainable vision.

EnviroSchools is a national program that helps school like us become more sustainable by developing and executing a sustainable vision.

The program is divided into three stages, and Kristin started on this journey in 2017 when we received EnviroSchool Bronze. This required us to recognize our efforts so far, and work to build a more sustainable vision.

In 2019, we qualified for our EnvironSchool Silver by creating our sustainability vision and looking back at the progress we made since 2017. You can read our school-wide vision here.

We aim to achieve EnviroSchool GreenGold in 2022. We will be

sharing more information about this goal on this website,  within

the next couple of months.

Sustainability at Kristin means taking care of our communities and our environment - and making that part of who we are, now and for future generations.
