At Kristin, there are many clubs that focus on different aspects of sustainability. Now that school has begun, these groups are slowly starting up and preparing projects for the upcoming year. Upcyclers and UNICEF are two of the many clubs that Kristin offers:
"The Upcyclers is a club that aims to demonstrate the concept of sustainability through giving second-handed materials a new life. We create aesthetic and functional products out of unwanted products through original and creative practices. Some of our finished products and achievements include the Art for Hospital mural, denim bag containers, a variety of work through paper, and scrunchies etc. We are currently working on creating a mural that reflects Māori values, unity, and sustainability with bottle caps. We also have a list of other creative ideas which we will aim to bring to life and expand on in the future."

"UNICEF is a service club dedicated to the rights of children. UNICEF Kristin is part of the vast global network of the United Nations Children’s Fund. For over 70 years UNICEF has been working to protect the rights of children in over 190 countries and territories around the world. NZ is one of 33 UNICEF national committees, which raises funds for UNICEF worldwide emergency and development projects. UNICEF Kristin contributes to the NZ UNICEF’s initiatives of helping children both here and overseas. The 2021 UNICEF Kristin will continue and build on the long tradition of the club’s proud history of supporting children’s causes. Last year, the club focused on raising awareness of World Water Month and also highlighting a number of issues affecting children everywhere and how we can all take action. This year, the club’s focus will be on how Covid-19 is affecting children in NZ and worldwide, both in terms of health and economic devastation. We will explore how we can do our part in raising awareness and funds to tackle this once in a century pandemic. Sustainability is a major focus for UNICEF and at UNICEF Kristin 2021, we will do our part in raising awareness that “there may be no greater growing threat facing the world’s children than climate change”. In every crisis, children are the most vulnerable. Climate change is no exception. Environmental sustainability can play a significant role in how we deal with climate change and its consequences."
