Summer Carnival Waste Reduction

For the first time ever, compost bins were availible at the Summer Carnival. These bins were provided by a service called WeCompost, which turns organic waste into usable fertilizer.

The Kristin Waste Team coordinated the operation, with a set roster of team members helping out throughout the event.

At the end of Summer Carnival the team of 29 students worked with Ms Wakeford and Dr Loughton to help decontaminate the bins (removing non-compostables). In the end, we reduced the number of full landfill bins from twenty to seven.

This was a huge success.
